I have narrowed my selection down to these three, and I was hoping that I could get some sound advice: 4Ghz Turbo SSD- 500GB GPU- Radeon R9 M290X 2GB Ram- 16GB OS- Big Sur 11. The Mac mini is running Roon Server only, all non-essential apps and features are either shut down or dormant, except automatic MacOS updates, because it is in my network together with the MacBook I use for work, so I’m not taking any risks there. for MacBook Pro Battery 13 inch Mid 2012 2010 2009 Early & Late 2011. I have just purchased another Mac Mini server late 2012, this time a 2.6Ghz model with 1Tb Fusion drive setup. It is running Yosemite perfectly, it is not in a fusion array. I swapped one of the HDD and installed a Crucial SSD. I’ve been told that larger SSD’s are faster, but I’m not keen on wasting money on storage space I’m not going to use. 16GB APPLE MacBook Pro APPLE iMac APPLE Mac mini MEMORY RAM 16G 2X8GB PC3-12800. I currently have a Mac Mini Late 2012 2.3Ghz server.

So I’m going to treat myself to a Crucial 2x8GB RAM upgrade kit and a 250/256GB SSD.Ĭhoosing the RAM was easy, it was going to be Crucial all along, but I’m not sure about which SSD to choose.
I am very happy with the performance of my dedicated-for-Roon Mac mini so far, but with Roon getting more extended and my collection coming up on 100.000 tracks, things are starting to slow down.
Time for an upgrade to my 4GB RAM / 500GB HD late 2012 i5 Mac mini.
